The Stairmaster gives good a cardiovascular workout without leaving your home, which is useful in bad weather. The 4600CL has a dynamo (electronically controlled), a computer console, providing statistics on your training and control buttons that allow you to increase or decrease speed. There are three important factors to consider when troubleshooting : Electric, diagnostics and mechanical
Pull out the battery by removing the middle and top cover of the control panel. See the end of the cable to the pins and find 1 2 and test voltage with a voltmeter. You will see a reading of no less than 6 1. If it is below this number, connect the battery and recharge it overnight or for at least 24 hours. If all measurements are within range, replace the console.
Check output of the alternator by removing the battery as you did in step 1. Removing both the black and brown wires from the alternator terminal and attach a short wire to the alternator on B1 terminal. Carefully, get on the computer a few seconds to check if you have full resistance all the time. If you feel no resistance, this indicates that the alternator needs replacing.
Test load resistance with voltmeter by placing a wire from treaded posts on resistance (disconnect Control Panel) to voltmeter. Look for a reading of 2.5 ohms. If you do not see this reading, the load resistance poor and need replacement.
Start diagnostic tests by setting the console in the “Attract” mode, then press [+] and the numbers 1, 0, 7 and then “Enter.” The diagnostic test is to determine whether the console needs to be replaced. The treadmill will pass every test. After each test is finished, press the “Clear” button and go to the next diagnostic.
Press 0 to test screen. You will see lights flashing on and off simultaneously. Press 1 to test the speaker, you will hear an ascending / descending scale. Next press 2 to see if the keyboard is working properly. You should see the shape of an “L” made with lights. Start tapping each button corresponding lights. If you do not see a light illuminates, this indicates the keyboard does not work.
Prepare to exercise for a short time for speed test. Press 3 and you will see a speed displayed on the console as “Target”. When you start moving, the pedals will start to increase until they reach the set speed. If diagnostics failed any of the tests performed, replace the console.
Check drive train if you hear noises such as grinding or increased vibration during your exercise routine. Pull out the Stairmaster and remove covers on both sides.
Look at the belt to see if it is worn or not installed properly. If the belt is not sure, this may be a cause of noise heard during the exercise routine.
Move each of the station and get chains to see if they move freely. Replace chain if you notice any rust, damage or whether they are rigid. Besides removing shafts pedal and leveling arms. Look for damage and a collection of waste. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with oil. Replace the arm and lever shafts when finished.
