Stress, lack of physical activity, medications and poor eating habits can cause belly fat in women. Fortunately, there are ways to lose the bulge and get a flat, toned stomach. With a few lifestyle changes, such as exercise and a healthier diet, you can achieve a flatter stomach
Change contraceptive prescription. Water retention due to birth control pills or other drugs also add girth to the midsection. Ask your doctor about an alternative drug or a diuretic to flush excess fluid from the body.
Engage in cardiovascular exercise, such as aerobics, jogging or biking. Regular exercise — at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes or longer — burns fat, and increases the heart rate and respiration.
Tone your stomach. Cardio workouts burn belly fat, but abdominal workouts tone and flat stomach. Crunches, Pilates and other core workouts fixed lower and upper abdominal muscles.
Eat a healthy diet. Fatty foods — such as fried, fast or “junk” food — contribute to belly weight. Limit fat intake and eat more fruits and vegetables. Protein (chicken, eggs and dairy products) builds muscle, which increases your metabolism and helps burn fat.
Reduce stress. Brain releases cortisol when the body and the mind suffers from stress, this chemical contributes to the storage of abdominal fat. Reducing stress by exercising, getting a massage, go for a walk or listen to music.
