How Eliminate Migraine Triggers

How Eliminate Migraine Triggers

Many foods have been linked to be migraine triggers. I have included a list below. I must admit that I have very little willpower when it comes to food I like, and mostly all of them are listed below. But if you have found that migraines tend to happen within a few hours after you eat certain meals it is worth it to try an elimination diet to limit what the offending agent is and rid it from your diet just like you had a typical food allergy.
Famous food migraine triggers (not a complete list, but most major food triggers are listed)
-Food with nitrates (bacon, corned beef, ham, sausages, luncheon meats, and sausage)
-Chemical MSG (monosodium glutamate)
-alderen cheese (Cheddar, Swiss, Stilton, Brie), chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, sour cream
-koffeinholdige beverages
-aspartam (artificial sweetener)
-alcohol
-chocolate
-tomatoes
-yeast
-peanøtter and peanut butter
-red wines, beer, champagne, vermouth
-anchovy
-soya products and bean itself
-dried meat
-avokadoer
-Some beans (which includes peanut), as well as broad, lima, Italian, lentil, soy, peas
-bananas
-nuts
-sourdough bread
You need:
A journal.
Lots of willpower.

1.
Choose a food for testing.

2.
Eliminate it from your diet for a period of time. For example 3-4 weeks.

3.
Keep a journal and document any attacks occur during this time.

4.
When you have concluded that a certain food is safe, you can add it back to your diet and elminate another.

Tips and Warnings

Make sure you never eliminate more than one food at the same time. This will ruin the test that you will not be able to tell where the food really helped.
While looking out for potential triggers its also wise to improve your overall nutrition by supplementing. Vitamins such as magnesium, riboflavin and Co-enzyme Q10 has been studied and shown to reduce migraine frequency and intensity. A supplement in particular that I use is called migraine complex. Within my first two weeks of it I noticed that the intensity of the pain of my migraine had fallen by at least 50%. I could work through the pain, and I hardly experienced any nausea or sensitivity to light and which today I have not had a migraine for over a month straight!
