Other vegetables that are low in carbohydrates are summer squash, mushrooms, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, okra, squash, broccoli and cauliflower. Tomatoes, onions, peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes and berries contain a few more carbs, but you may be able to eat these foods in limited quantities. Avoid starchy, high-carb vegetables like carrots, beans, potatoes and corn, and sweet fruits.
Fats and other foods
Pure fats contain no carbohydrates at all, so feel free to enjoy the natural fats like butter, ghee, lard, olive oil, mayonnaise, salad dressing, and sunflower oil. Nuts are quite low in carbohydrates, which are mostly seeds. Enjoy macadamia nuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds, pumpkin seeds and peanuts for a snack low in carbohydrates. You may find special products in your local grocery store or online that are designed for low-carb dieters. These products include low-carb bread, tortillas, shakes, bars, sauces, ice cream, candy and pasta.
