Hydroxycitrate (HDC) is derived from the Malabar tamarind plant. Hydroxycitrate is the main active ingredient in weight loss supplements like Hydroxycut, Citrimax, Citrin and others. Research from Georgetowne University Medical Center have found that HDC lowers body fat prosentpoeng, helps curb your appetite and prevents the conversion of carbohydrates into fat.
Dosage
Hydroxycitrate complex is considered safe in doses recommended. Dosage, since hydroxycitrate not exist in pure form is dependent on scientific recommendations and pill bottle instructions. Current recommendations suggest that a standard dose varies from 1200 to1500 mg of HDC someday. Dosage also depends on the severity of weight problems-a person 10 to 20 kg. overweight will not require as much of a dosage that someone struggling with obesity
Effectiveness
Hydroxycitrate complex is proven to curb appetite, reduce body fat and prevents carbohydrates to fat conversion ;. However effectiveness outside studies have been questioned. Laboratory mice experienced dramatic weight loss results, but the dose given to mice is 20 to 30 times higher than the dose contained in diet supplements. As of yet, such high doses are not yet proven safe for human consumption. HDC is more of a boost to a healthy diet and exercise plan. HDC is not a miracle worker, research leans to total efficiency, but effectiveness is still under debate. With more research and if the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves higher dosages may HDC become more of miracle drug than people hope. Right now, there is a promising and least efficient new supplement in the battle against the bulge.
side Effects
When you take a drug or supplement, the side effects are almost as important to understand that the result of the drug. In the laboratory test results, hydroxycitrate proved to be nothing more harmful as citric acid (lemons). FDA Recall
Hydroxycitrate is still safe and side effect-free. However, Hydroxycut, one of the most popular weight loss supplements under massive FDA recall. Fourteen Hydroxycut products, made by Iovate Health, are recalled and taken off the market. Liver damage has been reported and one death has been linked to Hydroxycut. Some consumers experienced yellowing of the skin, brown urine, abdominal pain, nausea, and discoloration of feces. The recall is limited only to Hydroxycut, other products containing is hydroxycitrate still safe to use by the FDA.
