With hundreds of possible diets to follow, can find diet-friendly foods can be confusing. Those seeking food for any diet should keep the taste, weight management and nutrition in mind. By choosing healthy foods in the right portions, can diet-friendly food manage weight and still provide a tasty source of nutrition
Soups
Choose broth or stock-based soups. These are not made with cream and are lower in calories. (See Reference 1.) Many soups also have vegetables in them, which is a good way to add to the total number of vegetables you had for the day.
Fruits and vegetables
Look for fresh, canned and frozen fruits and vegetables without added salt, sugar or sauces. These will provide vitamins for you and fill you up, but added sauces or sugar will add extra calories you do not need. (See Reference 3)
Whole Grains
Whole-grain starch has more fiber in them than refined. (See Reference 3.) Instead of choosing a pastry, opt for a whole-grain slice of toast for fewer calories and more fiber. Even white-flour products can still be enjoyed in moderation if you have them instead of grain added sugar and fat. (See Reference to.)
Lean meats and low-fat dairy products
Diet-friendly foods should include low fat dairy products like skim milk and nonfat cheese. Choose lean meat from white-fleshed animals such as chicken or turkey breasts, fish and lean pork. The skin should be removed to further reduce calories, but even lean sources of protein should be eaten in moderation. (See Reference 3)
