You’ve probably read that keeping a journal will help you reach your goals. Whether it’s to lose weight, training for a marathon, staying sane, or tracking precious and special moments, “journaling” can really help, and it’s very easy
You need:. .
Five minutes per day.
Go get a journal. You can certainly use one that you have on hand, but I recommend that you go buy one. Buy one that appeals to you and one that you will feel happy to visit every day. You need not spend a lot of money on it if you want. Consider recycling an old three-ring binder (just fill it with loose paper) or buy a slightly used one from a thrift store (simply remove pages that have writing on them).
If you use the journal to keep track of the food / beverage consumption, journal it after you eat / drink it. Same goes for exercise. Document it when you have completed it. For anything else, just to document what it is you did or did not do, as soon as you can. It may take you a few days to get into the habit so keep records as close as you can remember to write in it.
If you want to journal thoughts, feelings, memories, etc. then decide if you want to write when it feels right or choose a time of day (say, in the evening before going to bed) to make your writing. Once again, be consistent and write every day.
Use your journal as a reflection to see where you’ve been, what you’ve done or what you feel and think. This is also an excellent way to capture memories that a camera can not capture. Also, by writing it down, it can help you feel more committed to what it is you do. Good luck!
